Michael F. O'Brien, MD

Doctor O'Brien is a fellowship trained and board certified Orthopaedic Surgeon at Miami Children's Hospital. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders and deformities, including reconstructive spine surgery for children, adolescents and adults.

Dr. O'Brien earned a Medical Degree from State University of New York at Downstate in Brooklyn, NY where he also completed a surgical internship and orthopaedic surgical residency. His fellowship training is extensive. He completed a Spine Surgery Fellowship under Keith H. Bridwell, MD at Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis, MO; an International Spine Fellowship under H. Alan Crockard, FRCS at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London; and, a Scoliosis Research Society Traveling Fellowship under Ronald L. DeWald, MD in Chicago, IL. In addition, Dr. O'Brien has received academic honors and awards for his research.

Dr. O'Brien is a member of many prestigious societies including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Cervical Spine Research Society, North American Spine Society, Royal Society of Medicine, and Scoliosis Research Society.

The published research of Dr. O'Brien includes 14 book chapters and more than 20 journal articles. He has presented his research papers at more than 100 professional meetings.
