Doctor Stephen Ondra is an Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery in the Department of Neurological Surgery at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, IL.
 
Dr. Ondra received his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago. He completed a surgical internship, neurological residency and fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC.
 
Highly decorated during his military career, Dr. Ondra has been awarded many medical distinctions and honors. He currently serves as Chairman, Scientific Advisory Board for the Department of Defense’s Defense Spinal Cord and Column Injury and Department of Health and Human Services’ Medical Care Advisory Committee, both in Washington, DC.
 
He is an active member of many prestigious medical organizations including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), AANS/CNS Section on Disorders of the Spine, North American Spine Society, and Scoliosis Research Society.
 
This researcher and prolific author is an Ad-hoc reviewer for the Journal of Spinal Techniques and Disorders and Neurosurgery. In addition, he has edited several textbooks on the subject of spinal disorders and neurosurgery.
 
His interests include complex and reconstructive spine surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, rheumatoid disease.
